Managing Director
Luke
What do you do at HOP?
I’m the MD of HOP. I oversee the business strategy, marketing and finance, and am lucky enough to work with top quality people who help us deliver a winning formula.
My role is to work with the Management Team to ensure that we are continuing to provide the best possible customer service, as part of our strategy to grow the business across Leeds.
The growth and success of HOP is contingent on us having a high performing team that is as dedicated to customer service as I am. Our people are the foundation of our business and I’m committed to developing the team to be the best it can be. I am proud to have completed the Investors in People accreditation to help make HOP a great place to work.
At HOP, we support our people by continually evolving our software, systems, training and processes to help them deliver excellence throughout. I love seeing the team develop and succeed and how this is reflected in the excellent feedback from our happy customers.
What did you do before joining HOP?
As a young adult I moved to the fantastic city of Newcastle to study Business and Accountancy. Shortly after graduating from University, I secured a position at a large house builder on their graduate scheme until the property crash in 2008. After spotting a gap in the market for an independent agent that could offer a different approach, I created Let Leeds, which later rebranded to HOP in 2020.
What’s the best bit about working for HOP?
Let Leeds was born at the beginning of 2009 with a vision to shake up the lettings market. At the time, the industry was traditional and rigid with some agents offering a sub-standard service. It was my goal to offer a more modern and customer-centric approach to lettings for the reputable landlords of Leeds.
Our focus was on technology, customer service and high-quality property marketing and the business developed quickly through referrals. Soon we were managing a large portfolio of residential properties across Leeds. Landlords loved our streamlined lettings process and our single point of contact approach, which meant we could deliver a more personal service.
In 2020, we expanded our offering to include residential Sales and Block Management and re-branded to HOP.
The best bit about working for HOP is also what sets us apart from other agents – and that’s the talented people that work here. We are incredibly proud to have an ever-expanding team of proactive, professional and hardworking individuals who want to provide our customers with celebrity service.
I’m excited about the growth of the business and, as an ambitious company, we are keen on expanding further our property portfolio across Leeds, both organically and through acquisition.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy football, going to the gym, watching films, eating out and cooking in, playing poker, as well as spending time with my two children.
An interesting fact about you?
The business originally started in my spare bedroom with an investment of £3,000.
What is your dream home?
My dream house would be modern with lots of high-tech gadgets and features, a jacuzzi, football pitch, lots of space for socialising and BBQs, and a good sound system. I love the sun, food and friends so location is a top priority. It would have to be somewhere warm, near a beach with some local bars and restaurants, and close to friends and family!
