The Leeds music scene is soon to be given another boost in the form of Belgrave Music Hall, adding something fresh to compete alongside venues such as The Cockpit, The Library and The Brudenell Social Club.
The three-story former assembly hall, however, is more than just a place to hear great music. Hall operators Simon Stevens and Ash Kollakowski – experienced Leeds music promoters – designed their venue to provide multiple reasons to visit. Kollakowski said, “When looking at what makes an amazing venue today, people’s expectations have definitely changed. It’s not just about the music anymore.”
That is why there will be not one, but two new restaurants located in the hall, with the aim of providing a more permanent space for street food traders. The Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen, to give it its full title, will feature a pizza restaurant called Dough Boys, and a second restaurant curated by Northern England’s street food organisation Northern StrEATS, which will feature different traders, and therefore different flavours, throughout the year.
Located next to Sandinista on Cross Belgrave Street, The Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen opens on 4 October.
