Area Guide - Hyde Park

Location

Hyde Park is ideally located for students due to its proximity to both Leeds Beckett and Leeds University. At the centre is Hyde Park Corner, the location for a diverse range of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. Hyde Park is only 5 minutes walk of Headingley, an equally popular location for student accommodations, and a fifteen minutes walk to Leeds centre.

Entertainment

With a wide range of convenience stores, take away places and pubs, it’s not surprising that Hyde Park is extremely popular with students. The Clock Café is a cool little café that serves great coffee and delicious sandwiches, good place with a chilled out ambience. Hyde Park Pub is a well known and popular student pub with cheap drinks and is always busy. The Dry Dock (converted barge boat) is located on the edge of town and delivers a fresh mix of just about every musical genre going, indulging in classic tunes and modern chart toppers.

The Fab Café delivers student prices and a Star Wars theme. Your pub crawl hit list should also include Reform, a chic little outfit with enough sass, wit, and defiance to keep you coming back for more with a strangely masochistic determination. Alternatively head a five minute walk up the road to Headingley the hub of student entertainment, see the area guide for full details.

Sport

Sports lovers will find Headingley Stadium just up the road, home to Yorkshire Cricket Club, Leeds Rhinos Rugby League Club and Leeds Tykes Rugby Union Club. So check your sporting calendar because if you live in Headingley you will find all the sporting action you want, right on your doorstep.

Local attractions

Hyde Park is extremely proud of its very own historical Picture House, which has been showing films and stage performances for more than 100 years. Hyde Park is great for students and residents a like. This is the hang out spot where you can find the local skate park, play ground, football pitches and there’s plenty of grassy areas for everyone to have their share during the summer months.
