The Hyde Park area of Leeds is no stranger to the wild antics of drunken students, however, one group of unfortunate party people seem to have stumbled upon the line dividing acceptable and unacceptable, and fallen over it. The nine housemates, all students at the University of Leeds, have had their hangovers accentuated by faceplanting themselves on Anti-Social Behaviour Orders.
Council officers were summoned to the house on Brudenell Avenue on three separate occasions following complaints for loud music and noisy partying. On each occasion, the officers were met by a different housemate, and due to a lack of communication, the fact that things were getting more serious was not generally perceived.
The partiers carried on, “too drunk to care,” as one of them, a second-year history student, put it. The Freshers festivities went on into the early hours of the morning. An unamused neighboor made an official complaint to Leeds City Council. Two weeks later, all nine tenants were given ASBOs. Another loud party could now land them a £5,000 fine.
To avoid ASBOs, respect your neighbours. Remember – not everyone drinks till 4am and sleeps till 5pm on a Wednesday!
