Benefit from our Experience
Some might argue that a flat is a flat and a house is a house, but that is simply not the case. What is acceptable, even desirable for one person, may not be for another. It is the job of the estate agent to understand the differences and the needs of each individual and present them with appropriate options.
A house that may appeal to newlyweds seeking their first home will typically have little in common with what a family with several school-age children will find appropriate. To ensure you don’t waste time being led on wild goose chases, it’s important you work with reliable estate agents that understand what different clients need and where to find those properties. That is why so many people choose HOP.
Our Services
We are proud to offer our clients a full range of property services including student and professional lets, block management, investment sales, property management, property sales and more. Since our inception, we have won multiple awards for excellence in letting. Today, we bring the same award-winning commitment and dedication to our other services. Pudsey is located midway between Bradford and Leeds City Centre, and is a relatively large area of Leeds with over 32,000 inhabitants. The area has many local amenities and places to shop. Local supermarkets include Asda, Lidl, Co-op and Sainsbury’s.
The architecture of the town shows a mixture of workers’ stone cottages and mills, some now converted to flats in keeping with the settlement’s use as a dormitory town for Leeds and Bradford, and a few more elegant Georgian homes built for those who ran and owned the wool businesses.
History of Pudsey
The West Yorkshire market town of Pudsey, mentioned in the Domesday Book as Podechesai, sits between Leeds and Bradford and retained its own independence until 1974 when it was incorporated into the Leeds district. Long known as an industrial city, Leeds grew from surrounding market towns, with Pudsey being one of the main market towns.
During the Industrial Revolution, Pudsey was one of the most polluted areas of the country, as it is situated within a valley between Leeds and Bradford. As a result of this, the town was always covered in thick dust. The temperature inversion led to the soot becoming trapped, leading to dense smog in the area.
The town still to this day provides a noticeable break between Leeds and Bradford, a green lung for them thanks in part to the Moravian settlement at Fulneck, one of the villages adjoining Pudsey. The Moravians, who arrived in the area in the mid-18th century, kept their lands free of industrial development.
Pudsey itself still has plenty of reminders of its importance as a woollen cloth producing area in the industrial revolution and afterwards, and local business Hainsworths still provides specialist cloth. In the undeveloped land around the town remnants of packhorse trails unite its rural and industrial pasts.
