What better way to get festive and spread Christmas cheer in Horsforth this year, than with a fun and colourful competition with our locals of the future?

This December, HOP teamed up with Featherbank Primary School to create an exciting Christmas project for Year 2 and Year 3 children to get involved in.

Every child was invited to draw ‘What Christmas looks like to them’ in the most colourful way possible, and what wonderful drawings we got in return!

From snow globes to flying reindeers, the children of Featherbank Primary have gone above and beyond to share their magic of Christmas.

Since the 1st December, we have been displaying the children’s superb creations in our Horsforth digital window, revealing drawings each day as part of our Christmas Calendar. A large banner has been also placed outside the Primary School, displaying 30 pictures for all the parents to enjoy.

But it wouldn’t be a Christmas Competition without a gift from our very own HOP elves!

HOP chose 3 winners from both classes, who each received a Cadbury’s Selection box for their efforts. In addition, every single participant across both years received a wooden art set, filled with 67 colouring pencils, crayons, felt-tips and paint, to encourage their creativity at home.

HOP’s Sales Manager, Rich Hare, based at our Horsforth branch had this to say:

“We have been so grateful for the support we have received this year from the residents across Horsforth and we are always looking for ways to give back. Having an opportunity to work with Featherbank Primary, a local school teaching the children of our future, was a great way for us to say thank you this Christmas”

I spent a very festive afternoon with the team, going through all the pictures the children had drawn and it definitely got us in the Christmas spirit! They were all so creative and it was very difficult to choose our favourite 6.

We were delighted to meet the artists in person and present the prizes in recognition of all their hard work. Thank you to everyone at Featherbank Primary who took part.

Well done to all the children at Featherbank Primary School for their wonderful drawings and a big congratulations to our 6 winners:

Year 2 – Thomas, Amelie, Jessica

Year 3 – Hussain, Hugo, Penelope

If you’d like to see some more of these magical Christmas drawings up close, you’ll find them on display in our Horsforth Branch window, on 111 New Side, until the New Year.
