Fans with early bird tickets to Leeds Festival can gain access to campsites at Bramham Park near Wetherby from 2pm Wednesday, meaning Leeds traffic is likely to get a lot busier from today! Standard ticket holders, who make up the bulk of the revellers, can gain access from early Thursday morning. The festival gets under way on Friday and runs through to Sunday, featuring acts such as Green Day, Eminem and Biffy Clyro.
In previous years, the sudden inundation of party people has led to traffic jams on key routes in and around Leeds. It is hoped that such frustrations can be avoided this year, as a revised road management scheme is put into action.
Festival traffic is to be directed from junction 45 of the A1(M) to Bramham Park via local access roads. The A64 eastbound will be shut to through traffic near the Fox and Grapes pub from midnight on Wednesday to 5am on Friday. Grange Moor and Wattle Syke roundabouts between Collingham and Boston Spa will be busier than usual Wednesday to Friday, so watch out.
Whether you’re going to the local music extravaganza or not, take care on the roads!
