On Friday 20th June, over 500 leading lettings agents from throughout the UK attended a glittering ceremony at The Lancaster London Hotel opposite Hyde Park where the winners of the only dedicated awards for the lettings agency industry were revealed.

The winners were presented with their awards by Katie Piper, the best-selling international author, inspirational speaker, TV presenter and charity campaigner who has rebuilt her life after surviving a brutal attack in which she had sulphuric acid thrown in her face, with renowned journalist, author and newsreader Penny Smith acting as compère.

Let-Leeds’ client-friendly approach was noticed and singled out for special praise by the 2014 awards judges. In their written judgement, the judges say:

“Everyone at Let-Leeds is positive and helpful and works to ethical and stringent standards. There is a real urge to demonstrate a dynamic and innovative approach to lettings and they are very vocal in wanting to shake the market up. The use of technology is well thought out and designed with the client in mind. The view is that anything implemented, whether a new website or a simple canvassing letter, must have direct and tangible client benefit.

Company founder Luke Gidney, who collected the award, said he was pleased to be picking up Let-Leeds’ third Sunday Times award. The company was also a winner at the 2013 ESTAS letting agent awards. But he added that he was even happier that Let-Leeds’ client-first approach had been recognised by judges.

Luke said: “It is very rewarding for all Let-Leeds staff to have their work and their dedication spoken of in such glowing terms by experts in the industry. We have always tried to make sure that everyone who uses Let-Leeds gains the impression that they have been treated in the best possible way by a company that is striving to do the utmost for them.”

“For the judges to notice that we do whatever we can for clients, while taking a fresh approach to lettings, is very pleasing. Everyone associated with Let-Leeds is delighted to have our work praised and we will continue to do our very best for clients.’’

Let-Leeds was the winner of The Sunday Times Letting Agent of the Year, Silver Award, Single Office, Northern category.

Now in its fifth year as a dedicated competition, these awards have become widely recognised as the most prestigious and difficult to win. With more entrants than ever before, nearly 6,000 offices were represented this year, but only the very best of the best were crowned as winners.

The awards ceremony was the culminating event of a rigorous and thorough judging process by a panel of 21 industry experts who assessed initial entry submissions before conducting an extensive review of the entrants, which included over 12,000 minutes of telephone interviews and mystery shopping exercises. The whole of the judging process was overseen by The Property Ombudsman; Christopher Hamer.
