The people that live here don’t need to be sold on Horsforth, but for those unfamiliar with this part of West Yorkshire, we’re happy to provide some details about what makes this such an outstanding place to rent, buy or own to rent.
History of Horsforth
Travel back 150 years and Horsforth rated as England’s largest village, very much independent from its bigger neighbours. By 1974, however, it couldn’t keep pace with the irrepressible rise and expansion of Leeds, losing its village status to officially become part of the city (Leeds LS18).
Horsforth has expanded from a small agricultural village to one of the most popular suburbs of Leeds. With a strong sense of community, cobbled streets, small independent shops, boutiques and high performing schools, Horsforth is an idyllic setting for young professionals and families.
Horsforth has somehow managed to retain some of its village like identity, character and sense of community over the years.

The Agora serves up Greek delicacies, while La Bistro Mediterranean, Napoli nel Cuore and Trattoria Il Forno are among numerous restaurants offering Italian cuisine. A favourite with the locals, Il Forno offers the biggest pizzas around, all within a cosy restaurant in the heart of the village on Horsforth Town Street. There’s also Ameen’s Indian restaurant, the Miller & Carter steakhouse and the ultra-chic Banyan Bar & Kitchen as well as many more.
Named after the famous Brownlee brothers, check out The Brownlee Arms pub and its top-notch Sunday roast or their famous Yorkshire Pudding Wraps. Or, for something a little more cultural, why not head to Moghul’s Indian for a bit of spice and flavour.

Finally, another making the list of ‘must visits’ is a new addition to popular New Road Side, Brontae’s Bar & Restaurant. Opened by well-known 25-year-old chef Dale Spink, Brontae’s makes a great visit for beautifully presented cuisine in the brand-new modern restaurant.
If you are someone who enjoys or prefers cooking at home, there are various supermarkets catering to different tastes sprinkled about the area, including Londis, Morrisons, Waitrose & Partners Meanwood (upmarket British goods), Sainsbury’s and Tesco Express.
If you enjoy trying a range of home brewed beers, The Malt Brewhouse is the place for you. Brewing all their beers in house, the cool and quirky bar offers tasty food and shuffle boards so you can make a fun night of it too. If you prefer the taste of gin, then Granvilles Beer and Gin Bar located around the corner is a must.
The list goes on, Horsforth offers something to suit every day and every night. From family pubs, both independent and chains, to cocktail bars and breweries, homeowners will find that this village offers amenities for every tastebud on their doorstep.
