Most students return home for the festive season and it is important to ensure that you property is left in a good condition over the Christmas period. So before you head out to that Christmas party, make sure you have done the following:

• Log any maintenance issues

 Our online, 24 hour system, FIXFLO allows you to log any maintenance issues. FIXFLO is easy to use and allows you to log issues from a problem with your heating and hot water to issues with your electricity and lighting. You can also add photos of the issue to help the Contractor diagnose the problem and bring the right tools. Logging any issues before you leave for Christmas will ensure that you return to a perfect property.

• Test your smoke alarm

It is recommended that you test your smoke alarm once a week to ensure that you are protected from the risk of fire. By pressing the test button until your alarm sounds you can check if the battery in your smoke alarm is still charged and find out if your alarm is ready and working. To maintain your smoke alarm you should change the battery once a year. Please ensure that you test your smoke alarm before leaving for the Christmas period.

• Make sure all windows and doors are locked

The last thing to do before leaving for the holidays is to check that all windows and doors are locked. We also recommend that you take home all expensive belongings.

• Leave your heating on a low temperature

By leaving your boiler on a low temperature over Christmas you will prevent the freezing of pipes and will keep your house at a nice temperature ready for your return.
