Work has begun on Tate House, the latest addition to the residential landscape of Leeds city centre. The former Tate Cars headquarters on New York Road, on the doorstep of the eagerly anticipated Hammerson Victoria Gate scheme and the 265,000 sq ft John Lewis store, is undergoing an extensive programme of refurbishment, creating the most significant residential development in Leeds city centre since the now sold-out flats at Granary Wharf were completed.
The £9 million scheme comprises 74 apartments, including two rooftop penthouses with views across the city. The work is being carried out by JM Construction (Leeds) Ltd. The finished product will offer one, two, and three bedroom accommodation, specified and designed to offer practical and contemporary living space.
Although the interior promises to be of a high quality, it is the location that is arguably its biggest selling point. The property occupies a prime position in the city’s bustling Northern Quarter, with the main retail areas being just a five minute walk away.
Nina Barker, sales manager at the Leeds branch of exclusive selling agent JLL Residential said: “Tate House is just what the Leeds residential market has been waiting for. It matches practical and affordable living space with a fabulous location, allowing residents to enjoy all that the city has to offer.â€
